Soft, freshly cooked flatbreads made with just flour, water and a pinch of salt. No yeast, no oven and surprisingly little effort required. Perfect for scooping up your favourite curry or serving alongside a warming bowl of something delicious.
Method
- Mix flour and salt. Add water gradually to make a soft dough. Knead for 5 minutes, cover and rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide into 8 balls. Roll into thin rounds about 15cm across.
- Cook in a dry, hot frying pan for 30 to 45 seconds. Turn and cook for 45 to 60 seconds, then briefly again if needed, until cooked with brown spots.
- Keep warm in a tea towel. Brush with butter or oil if you like.
